The Early Childhood Alliance

The Early Childhood Alliance (ECA) is a diverse cross-section of the community stakeholders that impact the early childhood system in Onondaga County. The ECA was launched in January 2015.    The Alliance works within the larger community to develop a coordinated and strategic early childhood system.

Talking is Teaching Strategy

“Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” is a key strategy of the Early Childhood Alliance (ECA) aimed at improving school readiness among children in Onondaga County by recognizing that parents are their child’s first and most important teacher. The ECA’s initiative is modeled on the national “Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” developed by Too Small To Fail. Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing reminds parents that learning begins at birth and provides parents with the tools to strengthen the start for their child.

No matter what community you live in....Child Care workers have been among the local heroes ...they always have been and they always will be...perhaps we could start paying them what they are worth?Thank you to all of our child care workers who are providing critical services to all of our expanding definition of essential employees who need to report to work, and rely on child care workers to watch over their children. In this time, we understand how vital accessible, affordable, quality child care is to our society because so many of us lack access to affordable and quality child care.

Our office will releasing our new report, “The Child Care Gap: How the Price of Child Care Impact ‘The Deal’ of Living in Nassau County.” Stay tuned for the release!
